The first public release of Seasill, for the Mac and for Windows.

Your library, and the catalogue

• The wallpaper comes first. The one on your desktop is the large card, with the ones you use most around it and the rest of your library below. One click sets a wallpaper; for a few seconds afterwards, the bar at the bottom offers the way back.
• A catalogue of thousands of live wallpapers, searched from inside the app by words or by what a picture is of, with “More like this” on every card.
• Your own videos sit beside the catalogue: add a file, paste a link to a video, or add a YouTube video, and Seasill finds its loop and keeps only that.
• Downloads shows everything on its way, each with its progress over its own picture and a way to cancel.

Playlists and displays

• Playlists change the wallpaper by themselves, every so often, in order or shuffled.
• A wallpaper for each display, or the same one on all of them. On Windows, one wallpaper can also span every display.
• The lock screen. On the Mac the system plays your wallpaper there too. On Windows it is a switch in Settings, backed by a small service that setup installs.

Quiet by design

• Pauses when windows cover the desktop, and for full-screen apps and games.
• Plays a lighter version on battery, and stops when the battery is low.
• Says why, in a sentence, whenever playback is reduced or paused.
• Keeps playing when you quit the app.
• Follows your system’s settings for reduced motion, reduced transparency and increased contrast.

Plans and accounts

• Free, with no time limit: one display live at a time, catalogue wallpapers at up to 1080p with a small mark, and five of them kept at once. Your own videos are never limited.
• Seasill ($29 a year, one computer) and Seasill Pro ($59 a year, three computers in any mix of Mac and Windows) remove those limits, and each begins with a 7-day free trial.
• A Seasill account saves wallpapers from the catalogue and carries your plan. Each computer is activated once, keeps working offline, and can be moved from your account on seasill.com.
